Rule 1171 was developed by the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) to help reduce air emissions of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC’s) produced by solvent cleaning operations.

As a result, many auto repair and machine shops as well as other industries in Southern California, are converting their parts cleaners to water-based cleaners.

This is an important step in reducing smog-causing pollutants and will help improve the quality of air we all breathe!
