The City of Los Angeles’ Stormwater Management Division created a scholarship program for LAUSD students to participate in EcoTours.

These tours of TreePeople’s park facility include five learning stations that explore ecological processes and demonstrate the effects of pollution.

Students study the micro-organisms and insects found on plants and leaves, and also get to meet the Dirt Doctor, who explains how "mulch soup" is used to help enrich the soil and also provides food for animals. Composting is emphasized as an alternative to discarding leaves in the trash.

If your children attend a LAUSD elementary shcool and you would like to learn more about EcoTours, The Magical City Forest curriculum or Water Cycle, please call the Stormwater Public Education Program at (800) 974-9794, or TreePeople at (818) 623-4859.
