Solve the Stormwater Stumper

Caring about our local creeks, rivers and ocean may be a no-brainer. But that doesn’t mean you don’t need to challenge your noggin every once and a while.

Solve our Stormwater Stumper by telling us what we’re describing in the riddle below. If you get it right, we’ll send you a stylish LA Stormwater organic cotton tote. As a bonus, all correct answers will be entered to win a family 4 pack to the upcoming Discovery Cube LA, opening November 13!

At birth I’m low and lie serene.
But slow I rise, still barely seen.
With monstrous roar I rise up tall
and briefly see above it all.
It cannot last, and soon I break.
I crash. I fall. ’til next I wake.

There are three ways to enter:

  • Log on to Facebook and enter our snazzy online contest.
  • Send an email to [email protected]

It’s the Los Angeles Aqueduct as it flows towards the mountains. Then it rises by way of a pumping station over the crest. Reaching the top then gravity brings the water cascading and visible from the Interstate 5 into a reservoir below.
