Environment Plus Edibles Equal Eden

Green.Garden.Showcase.2013If you’re looking for inspiration for your own garden or scouting out amazing weekend outings for the family that are fun, educational and free, then look no further than the fifth annual Mar Vista Green Garden Showcase on Saturday, April 20, 2013 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

This annual tour, located in the heart of the west side community of Mar Vista, will feature almost 100 (yes, that’s right!) ocean friendly gardens showcasing drought-resistant landscapes that provide much-needed habitat for our pollinating friends the honey bees and Monarch butterflies and highlighting edible gardens with sustainability features like composting and rainwater harvesting. Mar Vista Community Council, your host for this Earth Day weekend celebration, does a great job of fostering community during this event. Their goal is to empower Angelenos to adopt environmentally conscious living solutions. They accomplish this with special guest presenters at various gardens that enhance attendees’ knowledge of sustainable living.

So, get ready for a “gi-normous” Mar Vista block party! If you live in the
Mar Vista area, it’s the perfect time to visit with your neighbors and see Green.Garden.Showcase.2.2013what new features they have added to their homes and gardens. If you’re not from the west side, this is a great opportunity to learn more about Mar Vista and the people who live in this community and pride themselves on their commitment to sustainable living. Either way, you’ll learn more about practices that protect our environment and encourage growing edibles, all while walking through gardens that bear a pretty close resemblance to Eden.

I am writing to inquire if you by chance have any available water drums that you are no longer going to use. I can definitely use them for my garden and such if you can spare any.

    Thank you!

      Hi Joshua,

First of all, forgive us for not responding to you sooner! We’re sorry, but we don’t have any spare rain barrels at this time. If, in the future, we find ourselves with a spare, we will keep you in mind. Thank you for your efforts to harvest the rain. – LAStormwater
