Kick Off The New Year With A Little Clean Water Love!
It’s that time of year again. Do you have your list of New Year’s resolutions in front of you? Okay, good. Now, if you left one off, it’s not too late to add it on. Here it goes, are you planning on giving a little back to the environment in 2012?! We thought so! So why not start it off right this January and get involved in some eco-events in the LA area? Here’s a list of some upcoming eco-events:
> It is Whale Watching season! Every Monday of the month, head on over to the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium in San Pedro for a little expedition that is sure to excite you and your family.
> We love trees! Do you love trees? On Thursdays this month Tree People will be adding a little tree beauty to their 45-acre headquarters atop Mulholland Drive. They love help, so love them back and join in on the planting!
> Transition LA is hosting a community garden work day on Friday, January 6th. Come learn how to grow your own food with the help of professionals! All skill levels are welcome to attend.

> The Bixby Marshland is ready for tours! On Saturday, January 7th the South Bay Environmental Services will open up this Carson area gem for tours and public exploration.
> If you’re 21 and over, love the environment and would like to connect with others in the area that do too, check out LA Green Drinks this month at Essentia in Santa Monica for some fun, informal green networking. The party gets going on Thursday, January 12th.
> Heal the Bay’s monthly Nothin’ But Sand Beach Cleanup is scheduled for Saturday, January 21st at Dockweiler Beach. Grab your gloves and come on out for what is sure to be a great community service day.
> The Future of Water in Southern California is sponsoring an event to brush the public up on Local Source Development issues related to water conservation on Friday, January 27th. Success stories and other information on research and technology are to be presented, so come out and tantalize your brain!
> Have some motor oil you need to get rid of? How about some e-waste? Well, the City of Los Angeles, Bureau of Sanitation is here to help! On Saturday, January 28th there will be an S.A.F.E. mobile collection center set up at South Park Recreation Center in Los Angeles. So load on up and come on over!
