Give a Little Love (to the Environment) this Valentine’s Month

Show some love this February and come out for a volunteer or eco-friendly event. Below is a list of some of the happenings taking place this month in and around Los Angeles. All are LA Stormwater approved!

 > We like clean beaches! We bet you do too. So come on out on Saturday, February 5th and join Surfrider for a beach clean-up in Venice. That same day, TreePeople will also be hosting a tree planting in Compton, and volunteers are needed!

> On every Thursday of the month TreePeople will also be in Coldwater Canyon planting trees, and the more volunteers the merrier. So pick a day and make it happen.

> On Wednesday, February 9th, the public is invited to hear an overview of the LADWP Water System’s strategic priorities and preview the draft of the Urban Water Management Plan that will outline the City’s long-term water resources management strategy.

> Are you a teacher? If so, join Heal the Bay’s K-5th grade teacher workshop at the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium on Saturday, February 12th. After the training is completed, teachers can then take their students to one of the partnering aquariums. Plus, teachers will score a free tote bag full of goodies for taking part!

> Dunes and salt marshes; two things that make our wetlands thrive. Friends of Ballona Wetlands will be giving a native tour in Playa del Rey on Sunday, February 13th. So be there or be square. Your choice.

> Dockweiler Beach is the place to be on Saturday, February 19th. Heal the Bay will be holding a clean up event that is sure to be full of fun and sun. No RSVPs are needed. Just show on up!

> Sustainable Works will be hosting a Green Living Workshop on Tuesday, February 22nd, topics will include water, energy, and waste.

> On the last Saturday of February, Friends of Ballona Wetlands is seeking volunteers to get some hands-on restoration experience while learning about wetland ecology in Playa del Rey.
