Day Without A (Plastic) Bag on 12/16

Actions always speak louder than words, especially when it comes to making a difference for the environment.

On Thursday, December 16th, Heal the Bay is organizing its fourth annual Day Without A Bag, where the organization is raising awareness about the harmful effects of plastic bag pollution.

The Algalita Foundation, which monitors plastics in our oceans, estimates that about half of all manmade pollutants found in our ocean waters are plastic products improperly disposed of by people.

When a plastic bag is littered in L.A. it will likely make its way to the storm drain system where it will float out to the ocean. Plastic bags do not break down and thus end up polluting our environment for decades.

Heal the Bay is asking Angelenos to join citizens throughout the state to bring a reusable bag whenever they go shopping. In return, Heal the Bay in conjunction with sponsors, will be handing out reusable bags at locations throughout Los Angeles County.

Please visit Heal the Bay for participating locations.
