The City of Los Angeles currently utilizes several methods for capturing and containing trash and debris that can enter the storm drain system.

Catch Basin Screen
Removable cast-iron screen covers installed across the opening of catch basins that prevents debris from entering catch basin chamber, yet allows surface runoff to flow through. This is the first stage of defense against trash.

Catch Basin Insert
Proprietary devices that are installed inside the catch basins. The filter inserts serve as a second stage of defense by capturing trash that escapes the catch basin opening screen covers.
